Ride hard...

Last night we decided to take advantage of the amazing weather and go for a long bike ride. It was me and my friend Julie on bikes, and Travis was running. It was so beautiful and I am constantly in awe of the scenery here. Just when I think I have fully comprehended that I live in a dream, I am gently reminded...there's more! God knows what brings me great pleasure...and that's why I'm here in Alaska. We rode probably 4 or 5 miles down the trail and stopped at a small lake to just soak it al in..oh and take a rest...somebody's a little out of shape? On the way back we had some bikers say "Moose up ahead on the trail, look out". How EXCITING!! I have mentioned many moose sightings on my blog and my disclaimer is just this simple...I still act like a giddy child when I see one and make stupid decisions like getting too close. I usually am in my car and veer off the road like I was about to hit a small child and practically leap out of my car to get a picture. In this case however I was on a bike. So, they are right on the trail and people are walking around them in the yard next to the trail. I decide to do the same but am MUCH closer than the other people because I want a picture..as if I don't have enough of moose right? Well, just as I'm snapping a few good ones, the baby starts walking toward me. (Side note..when I say "baby" I mean not 1000 pounds of scariness, just meer 500 pounds of stomping you to death scariness) Travis is screaming at me to get back and I grab my bike to start running like an idiot. Now, if anyone were watching me from a distance, there were no doubtedly saying outloud "that moron..I hope they get stomped". I was fine though..baby was just curious and my blood pressure went down quickly once I was a good distance away.
The rest of the ride home was uneventful, just more beauty and me thinking to myself how awesome it was to see those moose for the 890, 124th time.
