So, with all this jazz on the TV about Winter Olympics..add that to the fact
that I've slowly been working on my natural snowboarding talent...and you have
an inspired future Olympic Champion! Well, maybe not that extreme...but hear me
out! This weekend Rich and I were supposed to go away to a remote cabin in
Homer. That got postponed so we decided to make the most of our little holiday
weekend. We started out with my favorite breakfast...Eggs Benny (you should
know this if you're a follower). Then we went and bought my snowshoes and some
ice skates. (He already has both but I didn't, so how fun right?!) Then we went
and got chai lattes and headed for the lake. Mind you, I haven't ice skated in
years. The last time I did it was probably like 4-5 years ago and it was at a
rink. I have never skated outside on an actual lake so this really was a new
experience for me. Up here, that is a normal winter activity. There were 2 year
olds doing triple layups..OK, maybe that's overboard but not TOO overboard. I'm
serious!! These Alaskans do this stuff from the crib on up! We had so much fun
and before long I was cruising right along racing Rich (cause I can't stand not
being good at something for long and I'm beyond competitive) when he slowly
swerves toward me and I panic and fly into the bank of snow. AWESOME...I'm in
jeans and now laying in a bed of snow.
We actually had so much fun and I really wanted to stay out there for hours.
The rest of the weekend was just perfect..we were mostly lazy which is what I
needed. We had a great Valentine's Day and for the record..I think I am dating
the most incredibly sweet man on the face of this planet. Ok, that's my extent
of my gooeyness..
