Halibut Cove Camping

I was almost at breaking point...getting ready to jump ship and call it quits just before this little extravaganza! UGH...so burned out at work and a 3 day camp trip in the middle of NOWHERE with no cell service, no way out except a reserved and planned water taxi was JUST what I needed. I actually needed the water taxi to forget us for about two more weeks and I would have been even happier.
We headed out on Sunday morning for a planned camp trip with our friends the Acrees. We rented two public use cabins across the bay in Homer and let me just say...bear country. It's no secret that I would have instant cardiac arrest if I ever encountered a bear in the wild where I wasn't in my car or in a house of some sort. I had a gun, mace, and four little kids I was glad to kick down if that were to happen by the way.
Anyway, we spent 3 days out there and had so much fun. We fished the whole time, took our boat out for her maiden voyage...that would be "Dirty Gert". She was a champ, took us around the whole lagoon while having two seals follow us the whole way. We saw a couple of otters just hangin out on their backs, entertaining us greatly. I love to camp...in fact, there isn't anything I like to do more than camp...Even better, I like to be with other people who like to camp. We BBQ'd, made smores, played games, polished off plenty of vino and laughed so hard that I did pee a little. Even though we caught ZERO king salmon, it was such a wonderful trip. Can't wait for the next one...
