Are we in Seattle?

There is one thing I don't miss about home....the RAIN. I love that up here it
rains for a little bit and then goes away. It never rains for days on end like
back home...until this week. SERIOUSLY?!?! Seattle is enjoying the 70-80 degree
days with blue skies and sun..we are the other hand are getting the chronic
down pour, sideways rain, and puddles the size of small ponds. SO NOT FUN...and
so not summer in AK. The good news is it's still fishing season!
This last weekend we headed to the Kenai peninsula again for some more fish. We
went down on Saturday and fished the river for awhile before Rich's pole broke.
It was still fun to be out there even though we didn't catch any. We went down
later that night to Seward and met up with some friends that were camping down
there for a few days. Sunday, we went out on their boat and headed out into
hurricane force winds with a small vessel advisory...that was us by the way. We
were determined however! It was about 3 and 4 foot waves and it
was...well....rocky. Two hours out, passed through the eye of the
hurricane...we put our poles in and prayed for the fish. We caught 4 good
silvers, 5 pinks that we threw back (if you're Alaskan, you don't eat
pinks..not nearly as good a fish), and lost two that were on the line. Not too
bad considering we were in a washing machine and it was raining sideways for
hours on end. It's rained straight since last week...I feel like I'm in
Seattle!! EWWW...really? I hate to complain but this is just stupid...we need
some more sun. It's not like our summers are super long up here as it is.
Ready for some more fun news?? Last night Rich bought a boat so no more dip
netting from the shore! OH YEAH........above is a picture of the new boat (not
his boat but one just like it) and we pick it up tomorrow. Let me just help you
understand why this is so crucial. The same day we went dip netting on shore
when we caught 8 fish..his buddy was in a boat that same day and caught 81.
Yeah...now you get it? Not only to mention the fun it is to be in a boat! Who's
excited with me?! Let the good time roll....
