Only in Alaska

So when someone says "You wanna go look at the Ice Sculptures downtown?" to me,
I still do this pause thing where I probably look like a complete moron who
doesn't comprehend English. It's still so foreign to me some of the things in
Alaska that are everyday normalcies to people who have lived here a long time.
Saturday morning Rich and I bundled up since it was 15 degrees out and walked
through downtown where they are making the ice sculptures that stick around
until about March. They are still in progress but I guess they are amazing and
lit up when they're done. After that, we went to Humpy's (fun little place here
in AK) for the best Eggs Benedict in town and to watch some football.
Sunday was church and since I've been working so much lately, I haven't been in
a few weeks. There is nothing like being gone for awhile and then going
back..it's almost like being super cold on the ski slope for hours and then
getting into a hot shower. It just feels so good, you know what I mean? Today
is the first day of a 21 day prayer and fasting the church does together at the
beginning of each year. I blogged about it last year too. It was tough but so
worth it. I'm looking forward to seeing what God does during this time, it's
gonna be G-O-O-D!
