So, I'll start by saying that overall, this weekend was awesome. I had so much
fun and I can say that I have officially snowboarded. Now for the nitty
gritty...We get there around noon, check into the resort, our room was
incredible with the view that you see up top with the lodge on top of the hill.
BONUS! We get all geared up ready for snowboarding. Get the day lodge where
they have this nifty little thing called the "magic carpet". It's for beginners
trying to learn before hitting the giant slopes. You work your way down and get
to ride this belt back up. Picture this if you will...toddlers and small
children zipping down this small incline, passing me like I was 104 years old.
I couldn't gain any momentum and just kept falling. Pretty soon I was
overheated, starting to sweat, and getting really irritated. Poor Rich was
super patient with me and trying to teach me but the problem was that we just
didn't have enough of an incline for me to get going. When I got to the point
of wanting to take out toddlers with my snowboard I figured it was time to just
get on the ski lift and head to the top...forget this bunny business. Rich
looked at me like I was crazy but he didn't argue, he knew I was about to freak
out. We started toward the lift when we saw another bunny hill with the "magic
carpet" that was a lot more of an incline. He talked me into trying this one
first before heading up. That's when I started to finally have some fun..got
some momentum and even though I don't think you're supposed to point your board
straight down...I needed something! We didn't have a whole bunch more time
before we had to head back and get ready for setting up the lodge for our
event. The event was a ton of fun with coworkers and friends. We escaped for a
little bit to take the tram up to the top lodge where we had a glass of wine
and enjoyed a little quiet time. The view was incredible and on the tram ride
back down the mountain I'm pretty sure it was Dog the Bounty Hunter that was
our tram guide, that was a special treat.
So, am I pro boarder?? Close...but first I have to make it on the lift chair to
the top. I'm thinking Olympics...
