My friend Karen had a really tough blow this weekend so I thought I would post something in her honor and what she means in my life. I met her just back in July at a retreat that changed my life. I knew I liked her right away cause she was a tough chick..and I like tough chicks...like me! So, sure enough...we clicked right away like we'd been friends for a million years. We took a trip (the trip that bonded us for life) to San Diego and Spokane to deal with some family things but that's not the important part. The important part of that story is the way back..in Seattle we were getting ready to get on a plane after an exhausting two days with family when all flights to Alaska canceled due to volcanic ash. Again..a non-rev's nightmare...500 people(paying passengers) needed to reaccommodated so that meant we would be there for several days before any seats were available. Since I have a home there, a place to stay was not an issue...getting there however was a whole different obstacle since it was really late at night. We head down to the taxi line and it's about 67 miles long..goody. Then we head to the rental car lines. Exhausted emotionally, mentally, and physically, the agent looks at me and says "All I have is a Ford 150 or a Hummer..." Can you imagine the shift in my facial expression???? Next thing I know, we are cruisin down the road in a red hummer with the tunes jammin and a slight lean in our posture like we were a part of the Mexican Mafia. It was one of the best moments ever. We ended up being stuck there for four days but it was the best time ever and we've been attached at the hip ever since. She is my "Harry" in Dumb and Dumber and I can't imagine my life without her now. She not only makes me laugh until I pee my pants, but makes me realize how perfectly timely God brings people into your life. We seem to have nothing but adventures in our friendship and that is something I'm always looking forward to.
My life is full of stories that my friends love for me to share and usually are hysterical at my expense. But hey..whatever it takes to make people laugh right? My life has been nothing short of a good adventurous book that at times you can't put down, good laughs, tears, and so much more. I live up in the great North where the saying "the odds are good, but the goods are odd" rings too true. I came from the Seattle area where I have lived most of my life and while there is a vast difference between the two, there is a serenity I find here that I have never had back home. I love my family deeply, love friends ferociously, and love God more than words can describe. Welcome to my blog..happy reading friends..
