All beat up..

As with any sport, you get injuries and such...if you're any good. Take for example when I was kickboxing..I always was bruised up and had some "war wound" in which I was extremely proud to wear. I've played softball since the 3rd grade and had many "war wounds" over the years. The one thing I haven't ever had (thank God) was damage to my pretty little face.
Call it a gut feeling but something told me last night I was going to get hurt in the softball game. It was pouring down rain, field was a muddy and wet mess, we had a small lake in the dugout that I'm sure there was probably fish in, and it was cold. After a few good plays, I was running into home base and they were trying to throw me out when I slammed into the catcher and the cannon ball hit my foot. I made the score and so the pain that pierced my foot didn't matter..it was all for the glory.
HOWEVER, next inning was another story. I'm on first. My buddy Travis (not my love) is on short stop. Now, Travis looks nothing short of Arnold in Terminator. He throws like a torpedo. I know this.I'm prepared for this. He launches his torpedo, I went to catch and somehow..the ball missed my mitt and hit me square in the face just between the mouth and nose. I was rocked to say the least. I think I froze for about 30 seconds before I got myself together and then realized blood was everywhere. YUCK! The ball split my nose open and it was awful! I thought it was broken. Even though I was out for awhile, you better believe I wasn't going out like that. I did get back in the game for a few good hits and then headed home with a swollen face. I spent all night with ice on my face and this morning I can't even smile or I'm sure it will shatter in a million pieces.
This picture doesn't even capture the split or the swollen face but it's not pretty.
