Short but Sweet..

Friday night was the arrival of my friend Summer here in AK. I have to mention since my "friends" read this blog..she is the FIRST friend to actually come see me up here since I've been here. So she just moved into the "maid of honor" position for all you reading this..
I wasn't sure what we would do since there was so much to choose from and I never seem to lack for adventure. I wanted to give her the choice. We decided to go shopping on her first night here...something laid back but still moving around right? Well, as we were meandering through the mall I get a text from Joe reading "flying?". Well, no suprise that we dropped our items and headed to the air field to meet Joe. We flew through the inlet and down to Girdwood and Aleyeska, a popular ski resort here. It was beautiful.




The next morning we woke up, went for coffee and then headed to my softball practice. I know, I know...boring! I drug my friend to my practice?! Well, I had to..I can't miss practice or I don't play the game Monday night and when you're the allstar...well, enough said.
Anyway, we ended up going flying again (spoiled right?) and this time we headed to Knik Glacier (which I've posted pics before of).


Yesterday morning we woke up and met my friend Kathy for a hike. Now, let me stop here. I know most of you who are regular readers probably just had to read that last sentence more than once. Let me help you..yes, I Trudy Baydo HIKED. Albiet, it was an easy one but y'all know how I feel! I love the beauty but hate the hot, sweaty hike! Well, we went six miles and it was pretty amazing as you'll see from the pictures. After that we thought we'd have a relaxing afternoon but then Joe wanted to fly to Talkeetna and see Mt. McKinley (again, you've all seen previous pics) and I for sure wanted Summer to see as much as possible while she was here, so we went. This morning I took her to the airport and as short a visit as it was...it was so sweet to spend time with her. We packed a week's worth of fun and talking (staying up til 2am!) in two days..I'm sad to see her go but excited for her to come back. Oh, and did I mention she's six months pregnant? She kept up with me and my wild life, or should I say, I kept up with her!
