...the continuing story...

So, Alecia posted on her blog a little story about us being rebellious with her mom's car on her blog. It reminded me of another story that I must share..

Somewhere in the summer of 1994...wait let me back up. Alecia and I had a driver's licenses but not our own cars yet. She drove her mom's 1982 Subaru that she described perfectly in her blog "It looked like this - but it was brown, with a cow herder on the front and (the best part) it had a CB antenna that actually reached heaven. I'm not kidding. You could just flip that radio on and direct connect with God." Now my mom had a little bit of an upgrade from the Sube, it was nicknamed the Sabe (for Sable..mercury Sable). This beauty was a late 80's gem.

Now moving forward to that one fine summer day in 1994..Alecia and I were up to our usual routine..phone call to discuss which pimp ride we'd be rollin that day (that day is was the Sub..her mom's rig), pick up one or the other, and head somewhere with the windows rolled down, 2 Pac blaring on the radio
,us singing along at full volume, hair blowin in the wind and doin 90 MPH on the Burien Freeway. We decided that it was the perfect day to head to Seahurst Beach. Now Seahurst has about a mile windy stretch with 4 or 5 giant speed bumps. (note:Half way down is an overflow parking lot) We decide to drive in the 25mph zone about 50mph and launch off the speed bumps all the way down...and it was fun. We laughed so hard we probably peed our pants some. We caught a good few feet off each bump and practically skid sideways into a parking spot at the bottom like Ace Ventura in "Nature's Call".
Now, we couldn't have been more hysterical when her Dad (Police officer and Pastor) just happened to be radaring at half way parking lot I mentioned earlier. Ummm, can you see how fast our faces were dead panned?

I don't know how we're alive, but to this day he still describes the scene as one of the most memorable as he and his partner watched his wife's car launching three feet off speed bumps in a local family park like Duke's of Hazzard..
